Manufacturing

  • BOMs — the components and quantities that go into a finished product, each line costed against Inventory & Warehouse’s FIFO/weighted-average product costing.
  • Routings — the sequence of operations a product goes through, and the work center each operation runs on. BOMs and routings are picked from real dropdowns when building a work order, not typed free-text.

A work order tracks a production run from plan to close, through a fixed status sequence:

Planned → Released → In Progress → On Hold → Completed → Cancelled → Closed

Each work order carries planned vs. produced vs. scrap quantity, estimated cost, and planned/actual start and end dates — so variance (did it cost more than planned, did it produce less than planned) is visible directly on the record, not something you have to calculate by hand.

  • Issuing materials — components come off the BOM and are issued from a real warehouse location, with lot/serial numbers picked from searchable dropdowns for products that track them.
  • Receiving finished goods — is blocked until materials have actually been issued, and posts both a real stock receipt (through the same warehouse engine every other module uses) and the matching WIP (Work In Progress) GL entry — production isn’t just a status flip, it’s a real inventory and accounting event.

Each work center models real production capacity — the resource (a machine, a line, a team) an operation runs on. Work center utilization is calculated from actual logged time against available capacity, not just a count of assigned work orders. Downtime can be logged against a work center and resolved once fixed, so unplanned stoppages show up in the same capacity picture instead of silently skewing utilization numbers.

Inspections attach to a work order (or a specific production run) with pass/fail results and notes, giving a traceable quality record tied to the same work order that consumed materials and produced the goods — not a disconnected spreadsheet.

A higher-level plan that groups multiple work orders together — useful for planning a batch of production runs against expected demand before releasing each individual work order.
