Frequently asked questions

Is self-hosted a stripped-down version of Orbit?

Section titled “Is self-hosted a stripped-down version of Orbit?”

No — Orbit Cloud and Orbit Self-Hosted run the identical platform: same modules, same code, same functionality. The only difference is where it runs. See Cloud vs. self-hosted.

What happens if my self-hosted license expires?

Section titled “What happens if my self-hosted license expires?”

The running instance keeps working. An expired or unreachable license only pauses adding new seats and pulling updates — it never locks you out of your own data. See Updates & licensing.

Can I move from Cloud to Self-Hosted, or the other way around?

Section titled “Can I move from Cloud to Self-Hosted, or the other way around?”

Yes. It’s the same product and data model either way, so moving is a data migration, not a rebuild of your setup.

No. The only thing a self-hosted instance sends back is a periodic license check-in — seat count and version, nothing from your actual business data.

How do updates work on a self-hosted instance?

Section titled “How do updates work on a self-hosted instance?”

From Settings → Updates: check for a new version, update with one click (images are pulled, health-checked, and the affected services restarted automatically), or roll back if something goes wrong. See Updates & licensing.

I need more seats than my current self-hosted tier allows — do I need Enterprise?

Section titled “I need more seats than my current self-hosted tier allows — do I need Enterprise?”

No. Reach out from your Kuzium account and request a seat increase on your existing tier. Enterprise is for unlimited seats and custom terms, not a requirement to grow.
