Business setup
Section titled “Business setup”The first time you log in, Orbit walks you through a short business-setup wizard before dropping you into the dashboard:
- Bank accounts — at least one, each with its own currency.
- Main warehouse — Orbit creates a default one for you (you can rename it or add more later from Inventory & Warehouse).
- Tax rates — add the rates you charge or pay, and mark one as default.
- Fiscal year start month — drives your accounting periods and financial reports.
Demo data (optional)
Section titled “Demo data (optional)”After business setup, you’re offered the option to seed selected modules with demo data — useful for exploring a module’s UI before you commit real records to it. You choose which modules to seed; nothing is seeded without you picking it.
The dashboard shell
Section titled “The dashboard shell”Once setup is done, you land on the dashboard. The left sidebar lists every module your account has access to (which modules you see depends on your role and permissions); the header has global search, notifications, and your account menu. Every record — an invoice, a lead, a work order — opens into the same kind of detail page: an activity timeline, comments/chat, attachments, and (where applicable) an approval status, so the surrounding tools work the same way no matter which module you’re in.
Next: pick a module to explore, starting with Accounting or Sales — or if you’re setting up a production deployment instead of just exploring, see Self-Hosted if that’s your deployment target.
